We offer three core employment-related services, with optional housing-related support.
Victoria Street began as a comprehensive resettlement organization, arranging everything from pre-arrival communication to airport pickup to house furnishing to bank account creation to anything and everything that a newcomer may need to get started in America. Now, in FY2025, we are honing in on our three most in-demand core competencies related to jobs and housing.
CORE SERVICE #1
One-on-One Job Coaching
Victoria Street assigns a trained Job Coach to every household in its client list. Our job coaches remotely support work-ready newcomers find and apply for job opportunities relevant to their interests and experience. When invited to interview by a prospective employer, our coaches prepare the newcomer for this often intimidating experience. After receiving a job offer, the job coach helps expain the employment contract and weigh options. Then, after the newcomer begins working, the job coach helps them navigate their new company’s onboarding process. The job coach checks in with their newcomer regularly until the newcomer is considered self-sufficient.
CORE SERVICE #2
Personal Advising
Victoria Street assigns a trained Personal Advisor to every head of household in its client list. Our newcomers are arriving into perhaps the most complicated society on the planet. This Personal Advisor supports them from all matters from getting a bank account to enrolling kids in park programs.
CORE SERVICE #3
Employer Support
While job coaches and advisors focus on the newcomer, Victoria Street also deploys several strategies to secure employment opportunities at larger scales in each area where we work. We do this through direct outreach to hiring departments at local companies and, beginning in FY2025, we will be launching a series of Victoria Street-hosted newcomer-focused job fairs to gain better understanding of labor markets and needs. Victoria Street also offers free trainings and consultations to employers to help them streamline hiring processes, prepare to diversify their workforce, avoid or mitigate difficulties once they adopt this workforce, and implement retention strategies to support their long-term growth.
OPTIONAL SERVICE
Housing Search and Co-Sign
Victoria Street is skilled in finding affordable housing in areas well-suited for newcomers to thrive. If this skill is needed for the successful resettlement of a newcomer, we are willing to find suitable housing options, make connections with the housing provider, and connect the newcomer to these options. They will be responsible for submitting their own applications, though Victoria Street will be able to provide guidance. Since many housing providers may be unwilling to approve a newcomer without any rental or credit history, Victoria Street is willing to offer ourselves as a cosigner. However, since Victoria Street is not a financial support organization, we would require a separate arrangement with a partner to cover financial obligations in the event of housing payment delinquency by the newcomer.
